CONCEPT: 1969 The Band

I’d like to see if there is interest out there to form a band of talented people; it doesn’t matter whether or not you have a lot of stage time or any really. I am trying to build a five piece band….Lead, Rhythm, Bass, Keys and drums. I am a drummer. With excellent gear =My overarching objective is to develop a band with high potential for commercial success.. The band would be lost in the rock era between 1964 (when the Beatles landed) through 1969 (Wood stock was summer 69’). This was the most pivotal period in the development of rock it is also the “hippie” era.. Influences would be “British Invasion – Bay Area Rock i.e Jefferson Airplane and LA rock – the Byrds and the Doors, etc.,
I want to build a show rather than another bar band. I am seeking Corporate Sponsors/partners. I’ve also spoken with the national Endowment for the Arts who is interested, if the band is right - from the cultural revival aspect. They would help book us in to University Venues – which can be lucrative,
There is a lot of interest in such a band because the target audience is retiring Baby Boomers who are also becoming targets for many major National corporations
My idea or “formula” is to build a band with the look and stage presence of that era – stage wear from that time. Doing very accurate covers as well as ORIGINALS of that genre. The Band will have a permanent and dedicated studio. Maybe with a mock stage and your gear may be left there. Im thinking 3 rehearsals per week at the beginning. The band will develop the set list. One only need look at the Billboard top 100 ROCK only from that period to get an idea.
I have no interest in playing the bar circuit in San Diego – tI’d hope the band will perform on the road. With some smart marketing we could do quite well on tours and in the digital download market.
I hope to get some good players(whether you call yourself a pro or not doesn’t matter to me) willing to stay together for a while and write originals, don’t need any hired guns…..but guys who are willing to commit to such a project and stick with it to see how far we can go.
